Captains Corner: Looking forward to the season

Over the last week, our Senior captains have been reflecting both on the events of last season and the positive engagement we've had over the pre-season.

Dan Marles, 1XI captain said: "The lads have had a really positive and testing preseason! A few big performances from the batters and bowlers have put them in good stead for the first league game of the season. The added benefit is that the new lads have settled in really well. We're all very much looking forward to starting the season!"

Simon Janes, 2nd XI captain commented: "the new look 2’s have been building well in preseason with many new additions strengthening both batting and bowling. Looking forward to being much more competitive and re-establishing the team and building the collective spirit required to be successful. I am particularly keen to see how the younger players develop this year as they have taken their chances so far, and promise much for the future"

Dan Stay, 3rd XI skipper mentioned: "Preseason went really well for us, winning 3 out of 3. Some very good and encouraging performances that we hope to take into the league. Looking forward to seeing some of the young lads come through and develop and to see how far we can go in the race for the league title."

4th XI Captain, Aran Hammond said: "preseason results have been mixed for the 4th team but performances from both the batting and bowling units have been encouraging. Lots of players were given opportunities to impact both matches and it is pleasing to see input from players throughout the junior and senior setup. I am confident that the 4’s will have a successful 2022 campaign and am looking forward to bringing plenty of wins back to HQ."

The 5th XI acting skipper Steve Gould said: "We're pleased to be continuing our 5th XI for yet another year. It gives youngters the opportunity to experience their first taste of adult cricket, and also creates an incredible social atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed last season and whilst availability will always be a factor, we're all looking forward to a fun filled season ahead"

Head coach Tom Hampton said : "Its been a really pleasing pre season. The weather has been good and we haven't lost any opportunities to weather which is a huge plus.

We have had plenty of individual performances across all the sides, with a couple of younger guys taking opportunities in some of the top teams.

I can't wait for a full summer of cricket, with stack loads of runs and wickets for the warriors"
