High Wycombe u14s continued their great start to the season with a convincing win over league leaders Bledlow Ridge.
Bledlow got off to a powerful start having been put in on a true and fast pitch. Big-hitting from opener Tom Hickey put them in a strong position until Tom Gear dismissed him for a breezy 33. The High Wycombe bowlers then exploited the opening with some tight and skilful bowling, never letting the opposition get away again. Excellent performance on debut from Aussie Shane Wieyasinghe (yes he is a legspinner), saw him finish with figures of 4 overs 1 maiden 3 for 9, and Bledlow finished on the manageable but sinister score for English cricket of 111. Bowling Shane.
Billy Dodds then continued his fine start to the season, making mincemeat of a good attack. He retired on 53 off 34 balls, breaking the back of the chase. Well supported by Aarav Band who scored 26 and Raihan Hussain who was inches short of hitting his first ever six. The game ended with 5 overs to spare as Nithin Soudarsanan casually stroked the ball to the square leg boundary.
A good performance against a good team with plenty to be pleased about but plenty to work on too. Well done boys.
