High Wycombe Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of opening bowler Liam Bulteel for the 2026 season.
Liam joins the Warriors from fellow Home Counties Premier Cricket League side Finchampstead, where he has played since he was a youngster. A well-known face across the league, Liam brings a wealth of experience to London Road, having represented Berkshire at age-group and 2nd XI levels, as well as spending time in the Leeds/Bradford UCCE program.
During his time at Finchampstead, Liam established himself as a consistent and dangerous threat with the new ball, picking up 92 league wickets at an average of 27 and a tidy economy of 4.07.
We sat down with our newest recruit to discuss his move to the club: Welcome to the club, Liam! How did the move come about?
"I received a phone call a couple of weeks ago asking if I would be interested in joining, and after a week or so of thinking, I decided it would be the right move for me."
It’s a big move to leave a club you’ve been with since you were a youngster. What made you want to take the step and move to Wycombe?
"It was obviously a really tough decision to move from Finch, where I have been my whole life, really. However, the structure and the people at High Wycombe have really caught my eye over the years when playing against them. That culture is clearly reflected in the numerous titles the club has won."
What are you looking forward to most about joining the Warriors? "I’m really looking forward to playing with a group of players who are performing in National Counties cricket every week and trying to learn as much as possible from them. There are also lots of good people around the club, so I’m looking forward to getting to know them. Hopefully, the club can have a very successful year."
Is there anyone in particular you are excited to play alongside? "I’m looking forward to playing with everyone, really! Cam [Parsons] has been setting the standard for opening bowlers in this league for years. The prospect of bowling at the other end from him and learning from his experience is something I’m really excited about."
Finally, what is your main goal for the 2026 season?
"It’s very clear when you join a club like Wycombe that the goal is to win the league. Hopefully, I can support the team and help us achieve that."
Captain Cam Parsons is equally enthusiastic about the new addition to the bowling attack "We are really excited to have Liam as part of the club and we are looking forward to seeing him in a HWCC shirt. We’ve all played against Liam plenty of times over the past few years, so we know exactly the quality he possesses and what he will add to us as a side. Liam has been a consistent performer in the league for a long time, and we are looking forward to seeing him continue that success here at High Wycombe."
With the season only a few weeks away now, skipper Cam Parsons is looking at strong squad to defend our league title secured in 2025 following the incomings of Matt Pardoe, Broc Hardy and Hanson Martin, not to mention our talented juniors at the top of the pathway who will be pushing for opportunities to stake their claim as Home counties top run scorer Billy Dodds did last season.
