High Wycombe Cricket Club is delighted to announce that it has officially taken over the lease at Knotty Green Cricket Club, marking an exciting new chapter for cricket in the local community.
At the end of the 2025 season, it was announced that Knotty Green CC, founded in 1879, would sadly be folding after more than 130 years at the heart of local cricket. Located just outside Beaconsfield, the ground sits in the picturesque village of Knotty Green and is a fantastic addition to the club.
Over the past six months, the club has worked closely with Penn Parish Council to bring this opportunity to fruition. The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Chairman Chris Sketchley and President Phil Oldcorn for their leadership and commitment in helping get this project over the line.
The Knotty Green facility features a 10 pitch square, a practice net, digital scoreboard and a clubhouse and will serve as a key base for the continued development of Women’s and Girls cricket, as well as supporting the club’s expanding junior section, alongside hosting our 5th XI and some Sunday SESCL fixtures. In addition, the new ground will help accommodate a third team for Penn & Tylers Green Cricket Club, further strengthening local cricket.
Looking ahead, High Wycombe Cricket Club is eager to engage with the Knotty Green community to explore ways of growing the game. Plans include introducing initiatives such as walking cricket and disability cricket, alongside improvements to social facilities. There is also potential to develop a café, creating a welcoming hub for players, families, and the wider community.
The club sees this as an excellent opportunity to improve facilities and continue driving its ambition to sustain and grow cricket within the community.
This development represents a significant investment in the future of local cricket and reinforces the club’s commitment to inclusivity, participation, and community engagement.
Pre-season working parties will take place at Knotty Green, Princes Risborough and West Wycombe. Further details will follow shortly.
